PU´s Updates: April 2009

New Ball

Hi everyone!
This weekend I went to the local park with my humans and uncle Rob and aunt Nes, they even got me a new ball!! :)

Sara took me to the vet today because a couple of weeks ago I injured my neck wile playing with some furry friend in the park... Just got too excited and dove head first in to the floor...anyway, I didn´t complain much after the incident so they thought that I was ok... but yesterday at the park I started to run and got stuck because of my collar and I complained again about my neck.So we went to the vet just to make sure everything was ok!
She said it was probably just a twist, and I should be fine in a month... but meanwhile I should not force my neck in anyway.So...I got a new harness :) how does it look? I love it!!!

I used to have one until I was 5 months, but then I started to pull the leash to much and my humans switch me to a collar. Now Sara says that if I behave I might get to keep the harness :)
And I also got a new bone :)

We decided to enter Mason´s contest on who has the best wiggle walk :)so here is my video (sorry that it is sideways... but Sara didn´t know how to put it up right... bah...)

My doggy weekend

Hi everyone!

I haven´t been posting much lately because Sara´s a bit angry at me... She says I´m going trough a rough teenage stage.

Ok, so basically I have been busy with some interior renovations. Hum... just trying to give our house a new look... dunno why she´s so angry at me..
She didn´t even let me take a picture of my masterpieces to show you guys.... hrummff

Well.. today I finally convinced her to make a post about my weekend adventures :)

First I went to the park and played around with Ricardo! :) weeee

And I also played around with my friends! :)

The white little guy it´s Boris, he´s 4 months old and he also has some Golden Blood.
The basset it´s Api, he´s 8 months old like me :)

Then... Beach day!!!

I was missing my beach day a lot... so Sunday I decided to put my puppy eyes to work... and say pawwweeeesseee can we go to the beach??

And here we are, at Costa da Caparica, near our home.

when we got to the beach it was almost sunset, so there was no one there. I had the beach all for myself!

I even started do do some scuba diving down the water... but Sara didn´t catch it!

We played around with a stick, and then Ricardo found a huge Frisbee for me to play with ... humm OK it´s not officially a Frisbee... but it works like one! :)

When we got back home I was sooo tired... but they insisted on a bath!!
What´s with this humans and baths?? didn´t I take a bath at the beach?? geee

After my bath (no photos because it was a dangerous procedure, and the camera could get wet... and by the way... I´m a shy boy ok???) Sara hugged me :) see, I´m almost as tall as she is eheheheh

Ahhhhhh after all this fun, it´s bed time for me.. (if only this guys would let me sleep.... enough with the photos!)

My doggy hairstyle

Hi there everyone! :) today I´m telling you all about my hairstyles, or should we call it furrystyles?

One of the main reasons that Sara and Ricardo choose me from my brothers and sisters pack, it was because of my distinguish Mohawk furrystyle. yup, I have a kind of a crest (like a rooster´s crest) that goes from my nose to my forehead.

wen I was little pup, this crest was even more distinguish see?

Almost like Beckham´s crest (but a lot prettier)!

Another of my trade marked would have to be the furry things that I have on my ears!
The fur in this area it´s growing like crazy, I almost look like Uncle Scrooge see?

My fur is growing so much that I am starting to look like the lion King Simba!

Look at my mane, I thing I´m on the 3rd version of simba on the picture... give me a couple of months and I will get to the next level :)

My Name & Blue´s Chocolate Cake

People always come around and ask me about my name, what does it mean and why did Sara and Ricardo chose it for me. So today I’ll try to explain this complex subject.

Meaning of Pufas (by Wikipedia): Polyunsaturated fatty acid - Polyunsaturated fatty acids
(PUFA) are those which contain more than one double bond

Errrmmm… this yucky thing definitely does not define me at all…

Meaning of Pu (by Wikipedia): Plutonium is a rare transuranic radioctive element.

Errrmmmm… that explains my extraterrestrial behavior…

Let’s try explaining where we came up with the name:

Sara’s father used to have a nickname back in college – POFAS. His friend gave him this nickname because, instead of using a bad word to curse, Sara’s father would say PPOOOOFASSS, which is a harmless and meaningless word.
Nowadays no one calls him that, but we still joke about it.

My name came up while Sara, Ricardo, Uncle Rob and Sara’s father (also Rob) went to a soccer match (BENFICA!!!), they were all goofing around, and trying to find a name for a future dog (yes, I did not exist then… but they were already making plans for me!)
And suddenly they said: “why don’t we call him POFAS? That’s cool! And it honors his human granddad right?”
They gave it a little twist, so that it didn’t sound exactly like Sara’s dad nickname, and came up with PUFAS.

When it came to choose the puppy, they had to make sure that it had a Pufas face :) so, here I am little puffy PU!

Now, you may ask, how do you say it?? PU? Phu?? Pa???
Ok, so you say it like PU from Purré.

I also have a Chinese name (yes, because Sara was born in Asia… and her family also speaks Chinese :) ):

Now my Chinese name it’s much easier to explain! It means treasure, because I’m my famillies little treasure hehehe
If you would like to have a Chinese name, just let me know, and we’ll try to find you a perfect name, and explain the meaning ok?

Master chef PU brings you today an excellent treat for your humans!

Blue’s Chocolate Cake!

(yup, it was my upstairs neighbor that gave me the original recipe)
yes, I know... it’s not fair that we can’t have it... but the toxins that are in the chocolate can make any puppy go wacko... and we don’t want that right?
So, if it is your humans birthday, or if you just wanna look good, and score some point with them... this is your secret weapon!

Ingredientes:

4 eggs
2 tea cups of flour
1 tea cup of sugar
1 tea cup of oil
1 tea cup of chocolate powder (any chocolate milk powder will do! here in Portugal I recommend using Nestlé’s hot chocolate powder)
1 tea cup of hot water
1 tea spoon of baking powder

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a large bowl combine all the ingredients and mix well.
Pour batter into prepared pan.Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until inserted toothpick comes out clean. Cool cake in pan for 10 minutes. Remove from pan, and top with the fowling topping.

Topping:
7 table spoons of sugar
6 table spoons of milk
2 table spoons of butter
4 table spoons of chocolate powder (the same you used for the cake)
Put all the ingredients in a pan and bring to a boil, about 5 minutes.

Golden Sunday #3 (Domingo Goldalhado #3)

Last Sunday we had our third reunion of the Golden Gang. This time, to celebrate Pipa’s first Birthday (she’s all grown up already!!!) and Byte’s second “come home” party.

It was so cool! So much fun!
So I’m presenting the pups to you all:

PU – That’s me, Myself & I

Pipa – Now this girl need no introduction… you all know our crazy Pipa! But what you don’t know is that she’s also a lovely and tender girl! Love her

Emma – Sweet little Emma, I really loved knowing her! She is a little shy, but I could tell she had a blast Sunday :) and I know that she will become more and more friendly  she’s really beautiful…

Indy – Wow… what a big Boy! This is our Alfa male!, yup! He’s in love with Pipa, and let’s no one near her… but he’s also a gentleman

Maggie – She’s a big girl!!! And I don’t mean at her age, she’s only 2 years old. She’s really big for a girl and so friendly.

Vicky – what a cutie! She’s the little one of the group! Plus, she was diagnosed whit hip dysplasia, so she had all the attentions of the group. She’s so fluffy that Sara wanted to adopt her (I don’t think her mommy would let us keep her… ).

Timon – Timon, also a lovely dog, beautiful and slim . I think Timon it’s a Golden version of Marley (Labrador from the book Marley & Me), because he is always getting in trouble. Hakuna Matata Timon !

Byte – The gentlemen off the group! He’s so gorgeous! A beautiful golden… I wish to grow up and be just like him…

We went for a walk, a biiiiig walk in the forest:

Then we found a little spot with sand… yessss beach sand!!! Can you believe it??
So… what did we had to do?? Of course!!! Dig some holes there!!

I started… and then Pipa saw what I was doing and came to give me a hand (paw).

We were trying to find the lake, they all said that there was a lake… so we walked and walked for miles and miles…
We even took a break to catch our breath…. Ufff

This is me resting...

And we kept looking for that so called lake thing. I dunno what that was, because I never been to a lake before… Sara and Ricardo told me it was kind of like the beach water… but smaller… hummm I wonder if it is like our bathroom tub?!?!?!?

Well… no luck for us… we didn’t find the lake… not even whit a GPS!!!

So, we decided to head up to the picnic park. WEEEEEEEEEEEE here we go!!!

I also had a bite or two…. Eeerrrm…. 3 or 4?? Well I lost count! Everyone was giving me food!! It was paradise!!!!

I ate my apple…. Humm…. And then Emma’s apple (she didn’t want it!!! I just didn’t want it to waste it right?)

Then… Timon wasn’t eating his dog food… so I just tried to show him how it was done… hihihi

And Carla (Pipa´s mommy) gave me, was it 2 or 3 cookies???

Hum…. And I also gave my home made biscuit to all my furry friends… and off course… showed them how to eat them lol
